Viktor Kassai, the Hungarian referee who, lest we forget, got on the Estonians tits that night in Tallin in 2011 when the nine men were trounced 4-0 by Ireland, delivered a less complete refereeing performance tonight. At least in our view.

In addition to a harsh booking of Stephen Ward, he gave the Serbians a 70th minute penalty after the crafty Kostic fell down when he realised Walters had run close to the back of him.

Opinion was slightly divided about how to treat the penalty. Nearly everyone argued it was a dive but others, pushing what we might call a Gary Neville-esque argument, argued that Walters was clumsy and was asking for trouble.

Back in Montrose, Eamo and Chippy tussled all night while Didi looked on, slightly intimidated by the ferocity of the arguments no doubt.

But there was general unanimity that this was a shocking decision.
