As you are well aware due to the obnoxious amount of business with absolutely no connection to American gearing up for 'Black Friday', today is Thanksgiving over in the land of the free/home of the brave.
While it gives American families a chance to give thanks and love one another, it's really all about food and football and those two things came together perfectly in the first quarter of the first live NFL game shown.
With the Detroit Lions hosting the Minnesota Vikings, a touchdown on a quarterback keeper from Case Keenum from just inside the 10-yard line gave the visitors a 13 point lead early on, and it also presented a chance to perform a clearly pre-planned celebration.
As the NFL have eased up on celebrations this year, we're seeing some seriously elaborate routines, but most of the Vikings players siting down for Thanksgiving dinner has to be right up there.
"Let us give thanks for that suspect run defence."
The boos of the Detriot fans really make it.
Keenum has exceeded all expectations since deputising while Teddy Bridgewater recovers from a long-term knee injury, and it speaks volumes that he has been able to keep his spot despite the franchise QB being physically fit to return. Having connected with tight-end Kyle Rudolph for the first TD of the game, Keenum ensured that no Detriot fan would be thanking him on this most thankful of days.
Happy Thanksgiving to anyone celebrating the holiday.
