Pat Richards hit an outrageous drop-goal from near the sideline and on the halfway line for Wigan Warriors in their loss to St Helens last week. A lot of seasoned rugby league watchers are describing it as the greatest drop-goal ever seen in the sport and you'd struggle to think of better even in Union especially when you factor in the angle he hit it from.
He said after the game:
"I didn't expect to kick it myself, It was just one of those things that happens. It was just a freakish sort of play."

Richards is a Sydney born Ireland Rugby League international and is returning home to join NRL club West Tigers at the end of this season. He has made himself available for selection for Ireland for the forthcoming Rugby League World Cup.
