In the build up to the stacked UFC 178 event, the world's largest MMA promotion have released a new episode of their Embedded vlog series, that delves behind the scenes of the fighters' preparations during the course of fight week.
Episode 1 of UFC 178 Embedded follows Irish MMA superstar Conor McGregor and his next opponent Dustin Poirier as the duo prepare to wage war in the Octogon on Saturday night. From the footage, it is apparent that both fighters have vastly different mindsets going into the bout.
McGregor, unsurprisingly, is a picture of confidence. He's seen relaxing and watching the UFC Japan card with UFC president Dana White in a swanky hotel room in Las Vegas in the opening scene. It also shows him focused and readying himself for an intense training session.
And of course, the Notorious also comes out with some gems of quotes.
A selfie a day keeps the haters at bay.
Dustin Poirier, on the other hand, seems very perturbed by what the Irish man has been saying to the media in the lead up to this fight. The Diamond mentions McGregor's name throughout the video and it is clear that he considers this to be a grudge match. Maybe being constantly called a "Pea-head" has played with his mind a bit.
(I'm) trying to find an Irish pub to do an after party with because I thought that would be cool. You know, whip Conor's silly ass and then have some fish and chips and Guinness. Dedicate this fight to Ireland.
This is going to be good for him (McGregor). He needs a (sic) ass whooping like he's going to get. It's going to make him a better person in the long run. You're welcome, Conor. This will help you out.
