American legend Michael Johnson has held the World Record for the 400 metres since 1999. It stands at 43.18 seconds as he won the World Chamampionships on the track in Seville.
Its a record that has stood for so long that many have tried to spice up the 400 metres. One way of doing this is by running up a ski jumping hill in Slovenia.
The Red Bull Planica 400 took place last weekend in the Slovenian Alpine Valley, where the object was to run the 400 metres from the bottom of the hill to the top.
164 athletes came running as individuals and as relay teams to try and conquer the hill. Turkey's Arslan Ahmet won the mens category in 5:02:53, while Austrian Teresa Stadlober was the first women to conquer the hill in 6:46:44.
