There's alot of negativity surrounding the NFL at the moment with the Aaron Hernandez story and the widespread belief that many of the players are merely overpaid thugs so it's good to see a an NFL team show some heart and rally round to support and comfort a family at a sad and tragic time. This story comes by way of reddit and shows a package that the Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith sent to the mother of a huge Falcons fan who tragically passed away in a car crash.
Reading further into the story it turns out that Quinton was involved in a single car accident and his body wasn't found for a number of days and his understandably worried family and friends reached out to the Falcons community in an effort to find him contacting the Falcons message board which Quinton was a regular contributor to and asking the Falcons players including Quinton's favorite player linebacker Sean Weatherspoon to retweet details of the search. Sadly Quinton's body was found a few days later and Weatherspoon direct messaged Quinton's friend Dustin to express his sorrow at the tragedy and sent him a signed photo for Quinton as a gesture of condolence.
Via the thread of condolence on the Atalanta Falcons messageboard word of the tragedy worked its way to the head coach Mike Smith who sent the package to Quinton's mother. A classy gesture from the team and nice to see in the days of franchise football that a team still looks out for its fans.
