Sorm Dennis has thrown the Irish sporting weekend into disarray.
RTÉ have been forced to cancel live television coverage of the SSE Airtricity League's standout opening weekend fixture between Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers, while tonight's Allianz League match between Limerick and Waterford has been rearranged for Sunday.
Despite the inclement weather, Bohs v Rovers was given the go-ahead but RTÉ pulled the plug on their television coverage due to fears of the safety of the camera gantry and presentation area.
We know it’s disappointing but those on the ground are best placed to make the call. We are clear that having examined the options and consulted with others it is not safe to proceed. People’s safety is the priority. https://t.co/JL4bjyoAxW
