The Irishman’s meteoritic rise to UFC prominence means the mixed martial arts company is set for a return to Irish Shore for the first time since 2009.
UFC head honcho, Dana White, in the aftermath of McGregor’s victory over Max Holloway in Boston, confirmed the company would return to Ireland
White initially indicated that the event would take place in the third quarter of 2014. However, according to a report by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it could be a lot sooner than that.
Meltzer reports that the company has a tentative date for May in the 02 Arena (which correlates with comments which McGregor made on The Late Late Show), but that’s based on if Conor McGregor recovers from his current knee injury in time.
Either way it looks a certainty that the man Dana White dubbed ”the king of Dublin” will be fighting in front of his hometown fans next year.
