Sean Maher caught the eye of many on Wednesday night as Westmeath exited the Leinster U21 Hurling Championship at the hands of Kilkenny.
Westmeath remained in the game for a large part of the 60 minutes. Goalkeeper Maher was a major factor in the game being so close. Though, they would trail by 10 points at the final whistle.
Maher's appearance - jumper, long hair and beard - coupled with some gutsy goalkeeping won him the adoration of neutrals watching on TG4.
The Westmeath U21 is a multitalented individual - he once appeared as an extra in Vikings. He also boxes and plays football for St. Malachy's.
Balls reader Stephen Quinn sent us some footage of Maher playing for Malachy's last year in the Westmeath Senior Football Championship.
Up against Tyrrellspass, Maher levelled Brian Slevin with the opposition player through on goal. Not content with the first shoulder, he also hit him with a second before clearing his lines.
