Ronda Rousey spends an inordinate amount of time talking about Floyd Mayweather. After winning the ESPY fighter of the year award, she addressed her fellow nominee but non-attendee, suggesting it must be unfamiliar for him to be 'beaten by a woman, for once.'
Yesterday, she was interviewed by that august publication, TMZ, who stopped her for an impromptu three and a half minute interview on the street.
Mayweather is a fan of citing his own wealth. He is a strong believer in the philosophy that his bank balance is the final word on him as a person.
Rousey was asked about her pay packet by a reporter no doubt looking for a complaint about the amount women are paid compared to men.
However, the answer took on a different shape. Rousey calculated that she is the highest paid fighter per second in the octagon, and she earns than Mayweather by that measure.
People bring up the the pay to me a lot. I don't know if you saw the Floyd thing. If you make $3 million in a night, then you can give me a call. And I actually did the math. Given the numbers of my last fight, I'm actually the highest paid UFC fighter and I'm a woman. I think I actually make two or three times more than what he does per second. So, if he learns to read and write, he can text me.
