Robbie McNamara has taken to Twitter to show his fans and friends that he is making progress in his recovery from a horrific fall at Wexford just weeks ago.
The Irish jockey underwent spinal surgery in the Mater hospital after falling off Bursledon in a handicap hurdle and was out of his bed yesterday for the first time after his operation.
Delighted to get out of the bed for the first time today. What a beautiful day for it to land on #littlevictoriespic.twitter.com/nZAB3LCiN6

Speaking to the Final Furlong podcast this week, McNamara displayed some incredible mental strength to remain upbeat despite his injuries.
I'm feeling great and I'm still optimistic. I've no feeling in my legs at the minute, but it's early days.
There's plenty to keep you occupied, I'm enjoying my days and I'm in great spirits. I've no negative thoughts whatsoever. It was my first time out of the bed (on Tuesday). It was a surprise I was allowed to go outside, it went grand and it was a beautiful day for it.
What a great attitude to have.
