Regarding The Story About The 'Prominent Sports Journalist'

A note to regular readers: the Balls.ie team has taken an editorial decision not to indulge in gossip and speculation regarding the identity of the 'prominent sports journalist' mentioned in Tom Brady's story on the front of Monday's Irish Independent, RTE.ie and Paul Williams story in Sunday's News of the World. I didn't feel like this was something that needed to be addressed, but due to an inexplicably large spike in traffic this evening, I feel obliged to clarify our editorial policy on this story. Given the severity of the allegations made in these stories, it seems reckless and unnecessary to indulge in any speculation as to the identity of the person in question. Anyone following Irish current events over the last week will agree that it is an especially worthwhile time for prudence up until more facts are established. Balls.ie will reassess this policy if and when the 'prominent sports journalist' is named.
