A Longford architect is using the position of captain of the county team as leverage against the Longford County Board.
According to the Longford Leader, Liam Madden has made formal objections to the renovations of Pearse Park, but is willing to remove them if certain objections are met.
In the article titled Architect wants GAA chiefs to say sorry, Madden's objection seems to be in relation for a 1969 suspension from the GAA. He was the last man to be banned by the association for watching a game of football.
Madden's demands include being named captain of the team next year. He also want to lead the team out on the Pearse Park pitch to the tune of the 1960s television show Bonanza.
He also want Longford's colours changed from the traditional yellow and blue, to red and black. That colour scheme is associated in the county with League of Ireland side Longford Town.
The final demand, as published in the local newspaper is in regards to receiving an official apology from the GAA in Irish over the ban nearly five decades ago.
Madden is willing to remove his objection should his demands be met. The redesign plans go before the County Council next month.
