Paul Kimmage almost chucked his metaphorical pen across the RTE studio floor on Sean O'Rourke this morning.
In addition to raising queries about the level of doping in tennis, he said he did not stay up to watch the Conor McGregor fight.
He admitted to being intrigued by the phenomenon and acknowledged the sport's wide appeal. However, he also gave his own visceral feelings on watching the sport.
I'm intrigued by it. I've been asking about it for a long time now.
Do we engage with it because there's a lot of pantomime to it? There's a lot of show. And it's barbaric. I'm repulsed by it. I've watched it and I'm repulsed by it.
And I'm thinking 'should the mainstream media engage with this?' He's clearly got a lot of support.
He was expressing a gut feeling and when Damian Lawlor suggested that the mainstream media had to address McGregor, Kimmage admitted as much.
