Pat Hickey appears set to return home. At the very least, he is getting out of Brazil.
The Association of National Olympic Committee's (ANOC) are putting up the €410,000 that will allow him to leave the country.
Last month, the Rio court revealed that Hickey should be allowed return to Ireland to treat a health problem. This was on the condition that he pay 1.5 Brazilian Reals or €410,000.
The OCI ruled out paying the bond.
But ANOC, the body on which Hickey previously served as vice-president, have stepped in and paid on "humanitarian grounds."
In a statement released tonight, they described the intervention as a "temporary loan."
(ANOC) can confirm that on humanitarian grounds they have agreed to temporarily loan the bail payment for Patrick Hickey to return home for medical reasons.
The decision was unanimously approved by ANOC president Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah and all ANOC vice-presidents via a postal vote on 20 November 2016.
The ANOC are the official affiliation grouping of the 206 national Olympic committees. They are officially registered by the IOC.
