Both the Paddy Power and Betfair website were experiencing problems on Wednesday morning.
Neither website was available for use with a notice on both websites reading:
Really sorry but it looks like we’re having problems with parts of the site.
Our engineers are working to resolve the situation.
Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
Paddy Power and Betfair merged two years ago.
A tweet from the Betfair Help Twitter account at 8:50am said that there were "experiencing some issues". The Ask Paddy Power account posted an apology to a customer around the same time.
Hello, we are experiencing some issues with the site at this time, we are working on this, and should be back very soon. Sorry for this inconvenience.

Both websites being down has caused some consternation among early morning gamblers. What the hell could they possibly want to bet on at this time of the morning, you ask?
Well, there's tennis' Challenger Tour - an event which seems to solely exist so people can gamble on it. There's also football games in Australia and Asia, horse racing from Bangalore and basketball from Turkey, Indonesia and Korea.
The customer support teams of both have been kept busy.
We would treat this on a case by case basis. I am sorry for this current situation.

Hi Gary, we're working to fix the site asap! Cash out is an additional option on site however, and we cannot guarantee it will be available. Apologies!
