The Irish Defence Forces offers many different roles for many different people. If you have an interest in technology and engineering, it's definitely worth considering a career with the Ordance Corps and the Communications and Information Service Corps.
With the Ordnance Corps, you'd be maintaining the invaluable equipment, weapon systems and machinery that keeps Ireland's borders safe. You'd also become an expert in explosive device disposal. In the CIS Corps, you become steward of the communication and information technology that the Irish Defence Forces employ. This is an invaluable position, and involves maintaining communication links between Ireland and the units of the Defence Forces abroad. Training for both courses involves receiving a BA in electrical engineering.
General Service Recruitment for both the Army and Naval Service is now open, so if you're interested in either of these options, watch this video from the Defence Forces below and visit the Defences Forces website
