Schumacher reportedly hit his head on a rock after an accident at 11:07 local time. Emergency services were on the scene within minutes and the German was airlifted to hospital.

As is now the tiring norm when it comes to instances of this nature, many rumors started flying around about Schumacher's health status in the immediate wake of the incident but thankfully it appears he will make a speedy and full recovery.

Gernignon-Lecomte also said:

"Emergency services intervened quickly, at 11:15am. He was airlifted to hospital at Moûtiers. He was shocked, a bit shaken up but conscious.
"There's maybe a concussion but it's not very serious."
