Having won seven Munster Championship winners' medals, five All-Ireland medals, and served as a TD for almost 30 years in the Kerry North constituency, Jimmy Deenihan doesn't have much need for brash statements.
Speaking on Radio Kerry's 'Terrace Talk' recently however, Deenihan laid down the claim that in his physical prime he would bench press 280lbs (almost 130 kg) ... comfortably.
In a discussion centred around the contemporary focus on physical preparation in comparison to Deenihan's day in the 1970s/80s, the Kerry legend suggested that not only would his work-out regime still suffice today, it would actually be beyond the capabilities of modern Gaelic footballers.
You have to let us know what you think about Deenihan's claims.
For a little context, Adebayo "Beast Mode" Akinfenwa, FIFA 2017's strongest man, can get up to 180 kg on the bench but Brad Pitt is said to have maxed out at 130.
An absolute classic from @JimmyDeenihanTD last week on Terrace Talk for anyone that missed it! #wow @ballsdotie @radiokerry @bernardflynn15 pic.twitter.com/1j0JMeUE5s
