Jurgen Klopp was in a grouchy, waspish mood after Liverpool's loss in the EFL Cup semi-final tonight. First off, he complained about the referee failing to give Liverpool a penalty when Shane Long might have handballed in the box and then he complimented Fraser Foster on his lucky save.
He didn't take kindly to the interviewer Guy Havord's insistence that he specify exactly what Liverpool did wrong tonight. The answer, by the way, is not scoring goals. He resisted the conclusion that today's loss was indicative of a general malaise, rejecting the notion that the game can be compared to other recent games.
You stand two yards behind me, you saw the game. We didn't SCORE! We could've scored in the second half maybe four or five times, rally, what question do you ask? And referee, sometimes, it would really nice, even if we are part of it, if the referee could see obvious things like handballs, it would be nice.
When Havord attempted to clarify by voicing a kindly analysis that Liverpool might require a bit more luck, Klopp still wasn't satisfied, saying that "SCORING" was what Liverpool needed to do more of.
