Reports today suggest that Jon Walters will be fresh for the 2018 World Cup as he looks set to be out of action until December with a knee injury. Sky Sports are reporting that Walters, forced to the sideline for the victory against Wales, will be out for longer than expected.
Walters missed the Moldovan and Welsh games with a knee injury, and if Sky's report today is right, the injury is worse than first expected. It means that Martin O'Neill will be without the services of Walters for the upcoming playoff against either Denmark, Italy, Croatia, or Switzerland.
This injury is a further blow to the early stages of Walters' Burnley career. Having signed from Stoke in the summer, Walters has played just three games for Burnley this season, his last appearance coming against Blackburn on August 23rd.
