An Email from NFLUK.com appeared in my inbox today. As I scanned through the self-congratulatory piece this little nugget of information stood out
As Balls.ie has previously reported NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell, mentioned in a podcast with SI.com, Peter King that Dublin was a venue the league was considering. This statement was backed up when a team of NFL delegates toured Croke Park last November.
I went on Twitter and asked King for his thoughts on potential venues for the game this year, his response was as follows.
However, with those very Olympics in London, combined with Pittsburgh Steelers president,Art Rooney, saying in an interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that
He expects his father, Dan Rooney, to step down as ambassador to Ireland and return to the Steelers organization in some capacity in 2012, although he does not have a specific date.
Could a perfect storm be brewing for the tomorrow’s announcement to be that of a farewell to Ireland present from Rooney, a Steelers game in Croker? Or a case of me putting two and two together and getting five? We will all find out tomorrow.
