Two Irish swimmers have competed already this morning in heats in the Paralympic Swimming Championships in Glasgow. Following his bronze medal last week in the 400m freestyle, Paralympic gold medallist from 2012 Darragh McDonald finished fifth in his heat in the 100m freestyle in a time of 1:13:41.
In the following race, Laois 13 year old Nicole Turner was eyeing up her sixth final in six events. This one was the 100m freestyle. In a race won by Australia's Tiffany Thomas Kane, Turner finished in 4th spot in a time of 1:21:38.
After an anxious wait looking at the times set in the second heat, it was confirmed that Turner had qualified for this evening's final.
You can watch in her in the final this evening at 6.24pm.
There are two more Irish swimmers competing in heats in the next hour or so. Ellen Keane goes in the women's 200m individual medley at 11.42am while James Scully competes in the men's 100m freestyle at 12.12pm.
