The 2022 FIFA World Cup is just around the corner, with the footballing world set to focus their attentions on Qatar for the next few weeks.
The buildup to the tournament has been fairly quiet, something that is understandable considering that club football has run all the way up to this weekend. Despite this, there is no doubt that the hype with only ratchet up from here.
Video games will be no exception.
FIFA 23 have released a massive new update to the game centred around the World Cup. Not only has the tournament and all of the qualified teams and stadiums been added to the game, but a number of limited edition items have also appeared on Ultimate Team.
Each nation involved has been given a limited edition set of items, including crests and banners.
However, there seems to have been a pretty big overview in one aspect of the Iran design.
Questionable Iran crest released in FIFA 23
Each World Cup nation has been given a special crest club item in FIFA 23, ones gamers can apply to their own squads and sport in the game.
They are all fairly straightforward designs, simply featuring the first three letters of each team's name in an eye-catching font.
However, this has resulted in a bit of an odd design for Iran.

Yep, IRA.
We're not really sure how they let that one slip through the net.
Bizarrely, this is not the only link between Iran and the Irish republican movement. During time of heightened tensions with the United Kingdom in the 1980s, they renamed the road that contained the British embassy as "Bobby Sands Street".
It is not yet known if this has any links to their FIFA 23 Ultimate Team crest.
