As an island nation, Ireland needs a dynamic navy that's always ready to defend her shores. We recently paid a trip to Haulbowline in Cork and got a terrific glimpse into the day-to-day life for members of the Naval Diving Section.
In this video we learn that the naval divers perform a range of functions in the Irish Defence Forces: from search and recovery operations to underwater demolition. We also get an amazing insight into the bravery the position demands. Whether it's jumping from helicopters or boats, the Naval Divers put their bodies on the line (and into the cold waters that surround Ireland) because that's what the job demands.
As LS Ryan Carroll says in the video, "No day is the same in the diving unit. You can be doing anything from jumping out of helicopters to diving to 50 metres. I’d highly recommend anyone that wants to join to really give it a go"
If you're hungry for a real challenge and ready to put in hard work for a hugely rewarding career, the Naval Diving Section could be the career for you. Visit www.military.ie for more information.
