On 28 October, Pairc Ui Chaoimh became the second GAA stadium to open a twitter account. First off the mark here, as you surely guessed, was the ever so smug Croke Park.
Pairc Ui Chaoimh is undergoing to fairly extensive reconstructive surgery at the moment, along with a facelift. It's eager to let you know of how things are coming along.
The old Pairc Ui Chaoimh, which came into the world in 1976, was a frumpy and divisive sort.
"As charmless a slab of concrete as has ever been poured," according to the Cork-born Irish Times columnist Brian O'Connor, writing before the last Munster hurling final played there in 2014.
The new one is desperate to show off how well it's going to look. Via the mechanism of its twitter account, it took a few overhead selfies to make all the other stadiums jealous. (Pearse Park in Longford should look away now).

For those impatient to wonder what the finished product will look like, the account tweeted some of the aspirational computerised images. The new stadium will have a capacity of 45,000 and will open next June.
