Every week, Frankie Lally gives you the tips you need to make the right picks when you do your NFL betting.
Last Week, Frankie Got Screwed By: The New England Patriots
Yet again this column has suffered at the hands of the New England Patriots. Again Bill Belichick's men failed to cover the spread despite being in a commanding lead. This time it was Buffalo Bills who snuck in and late to ruin my bet. I'm beginning to wonder if it's personal.
The Pats are 1-3 against the spread at home and are favoured by more than a touchdown today at home against the Colts. I still reckon Brady and the Patriots have enough about them to win this year's Super Bowl but with the hammering we have been taking off them in recent weeks, we will be steering clear of the spread for the moment.
Frankie’s Lock Of The Week: The Green Bay Packers (-3) @ 10/11 (General)
Green Bay take on the Detroit fresh off a bye week on Sunday and despite a mounting injury list they should have far too much for Matthew Stafford and his Lions.
The Packers have come out on top in 12 of their last 13 clashes against Detroit and a win on Sunday will see them inch closer to the Chicago Bears who currently occupy first place in the NFC North.
The Packers are a perfect 5-0 against the spread when facing teams in their own division - the NFC North. Bank on them to continue this trend this evening.
Frankie’s Underdog of the Week: The New York Jets @ 17/10 (Boylesports)
The Jets take on St Louis on Sunday and they may just have enough about them to stop the rot they currently find themselves in.
St. Louis has allowed on average 37.5 points per game in their last two home fixtures and Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez – despite being out of form – should be able to find holes in their defence. (If he doesn't, Tebow will surely step into the breach --- Ed.)
The Rams held out for a 24-24 tie in last Sunday’s game against San Francisco 49ers but they may be facing into a hangover today.
Frankie’s Team to Avoid: Kansas City Chiefs @ 8/5 (William Hill)
Let's make something clear – the Chiefs are absolutely shocking.
True, they almost grabbed a win against Pittsburgh on Monday Night Football but the Steelers had lost their star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and the Chiefs STILL failed to get the job done.
How much more good luck do they need?
The Cincinnati Bengals aren't much better but with the final spot in the AFC playoffs in their sights, they will breeze by the woeful Chiefs.
