It happens all the time. Famous person does something noteworthy, people rush to start mentioning them on Twitter, invariably get Twitter handle wrong. Enter non-famous person with famous name giving out about notifications.
However, it's not always as entertaining as this.
As you may have seen by now, Jon Bones Jones has seemingly got himself in quite a bit of trouble. He is currently a suspect in a hit and run case in Albuquerque and his main event slot at UFC 187 is in quite a bit of doubt. That led to an awful lot of speculation online with Jon Jones trending worldwide.
Jon Jones is quite a common name so it's no surprise that @jonjones isn't actually the the UFC champ. That would be @jonnybones.
@jonjones is a tech geek, art outsourcing manager and cat fancier and over the years he has gone along with the regular interruptions to his Twitter account. Last night was no different and he was in top form.
So I'm out at a craft beer bar when my phone starts vibrating with notifications every three seconds. @jonnybones must be up to something!

Hey @Anthony_Rumble! If @jonnybones backs out, I'll happily face off against you in a video game of your choice. Hit me up, figuratively!

.@pdlmma WORLD EXCLUSIVE SCOOP: You're right, I'm not fighting at UFC 187! I'm probably playing Bastion or Unreal Tournament that night.

.@RobBreaking @pdlmma @JonnyBones is in a very different weight class. If you want to see a fat white guy cry and wet himself, I'm your man. — Jon Jones (@jonjones) April 26, 2015
However, if you're thinking of giving the fun Jon Jones a follow, he does have a word of warning.
So far, 220 new followers in five hours. Holy crap. Most of you are going to be extremely disappointed when you see what I'm like normally.
