17.10 I've spent the last half hour making gifs, checking my fantasy team and watching Swansea-Sunderland. My interest in the game has shot to life though in the last 5 mintues. My bet - under 54.5 points is till somehow in play with both teams playing their back-ups squad. 5.54 seconds remain. Notre Dame just nailed a field goal to make it 43-10. Another score of any kind - touchdown, safety, field goal - will kill the bet. Will I win???

16:19; TOUCHDOWN ND Just your textbook multiplay drive. ND pound it in and it's game off, again lads. They'd want to sort out their kicking game though after another botched PAT. 33-10 ND
16.15 Notre Dame patiently driving. Navy really can't stop their running game. The highlights of this drive were a pitch invader with an American football hat and somebody in the upper tier doing this bizarre bloodcurdling scream.
16.10 Navy's band play GaGa's 'Bad Romance'. I wonder if that was organised by the Aviva people. Tickets still available for her 15/9 gig here. Notre Dame first down.
16.06: TOUCHDOWN NAVY! Brilliant work for Navy - they tore up the script and gave up their predictable triple option and started airing the ball out. After three throws, they scored a touchdown. 27-10 Notre Dame. Game on?

The Notre Dame marching band is on the field and now playing 'the most sung Irish song in the world': the Wild Rover, Danny Boy, a few jigs. This kind of like that episode of The Wire where all the cops sing The Pogues.
15.40: Ultimate wuss move by Navy. Driving with 12 seconds left and 1 timeout, they stupidly let the clock run down and settle for a field goal rather than a take a shot at the end zone. Fortune favours the brave, fools 27-3 NOTRE DAME at halftime
15.35: Sitting beside me here in the press row are Bowl.hu team, Budapest fellas representing the American football diaspora.
15.32: Everything's fizzled out here now in the minutes before half-time. I'm starting to think about beer and my Fantasy Football team.
15.26 TOUCHDOWN NOTRE DAME Navy were driving and as the QB dropped back to pass he dropped the ball in the act of throwing. An ND lineman picked up the ball and ran 70 years. Brilliant to watch.
15.25: Two alpha dogs: Feherty and BOD at the Aviva.
15.20: Navy's tactics haven't evovlved much since the 1920s. Their old-school Triple Option is causing absolutely no problems for Notre Dame. I wonder how young football fans, used to the run and run era of Brees and Brady are enjoying this? You know who's pretty decent running the Option? Tim Tebow.
15.15 This is an interesting game to attend from a media perspective. At an Irish football match I've attended at the Aviva, the spread involves tea and sambos, from what I've seen. We'll the Yanks were feasting on sausages and all kinds of meat products when I arrived. But when I sat to sort out my internet, I was surprised to hear underwhelmed the American press corps were. Apparently before the 'Reecssion' (US style), travelling media would receive better food and all kinds of goodie bags, with Irish music cds and tin whistles and laptop covers. Ah, for the days before austerity.
15:11 Interception Navy. Thank god, a touchdown there by the Irish would have killed this guy. Navy marching bank playing Forget You by Gnarls Barkley.

15.06 Try Miller fumbles and its recovered by ND on their own 33 yard line. Rout on, lads.
15.05 Navy's rugby team brought out during the ad break in full military regalia. They lost to Trinity yesterday 19-12. You'll never beat the Irish an all that.
15.03: TOUCHDOWN ND. Well on 2nd and Goal from the 5, ND ran a fade to the corner. Ivory caught it but could not get his feet down. On 3rd and 5 they ran the same exact play, and they got their touchdown. 20 - O ND
15:00: Possible touchdown under video review. Or as TV people, say another opportunity for advertising back in the States. No touchdown.
14:57 Take note- Irish football, GAA and rugby media reps - 1st quarter stat sheet printed out nearly immediately after the end of the 1st quarter.
14.55 So I shared an elevator with David Feherty. There was a guy carrying his microphone. His ego seemed pretty huge. A few minutes later he explained GAA to America.
14.50: We may be sitting in Dublin 4, but we may as well be in South Bend. This game is being on American ad time (even if it's only 10:30 in the morning there). Ad break time is about equal with game time after the first quarter.
14.47: Navy drive halted around the 50-yard line. I'm thinking my two bets - Navy +14.5 and under 55 points - might not be so wise. Another round of applause for sailors.
14.40 So here I am taking a photo of this guy from the Japanese media over the game when millseconds later Atkinson of ND blasts through with a 60-yard-touchdown run. 13-0 ND
14.35: Biggest roar of the day so far - ND defense clog up the hole and Navy on a 4 and Inches on ND 30. Big let-off there for Navy. More matching band music being played as the game stops for another break for American ads.

14.25#: Touchdown Irish A pretty easy drive for Notre Dame peaks with a seven-yard run into the end zone. Kicker misses the point after so it's 6-0 Notre Dame.
14.22 Highlight of the game so far from an Irish perspective was definitely the video of Leo Varadkar hyping The Gathering. We're already sick of The Gathering.

14.16: Notre Dame shredding up the Navy defense. How about the guy in the background of this photo: trying a bit too hard to find his ancestral roots:
14.11: Navy will kickoff to ND. I have to say it's sort of hard to tell the teams apart. Both sides are wearing gold helmets and gold pants. The sound of a jet accompanied the kickoff. It was very loud and seemed to throw off the ND return guy who let the kick roll out for a touchback.
