Paul Pogba being unavailable for this weekend's Manchester derby due to his red card against Arsenal at the weekend is not a game-changer says Eamon Dunphy.
"I don't think Pogba is that good," said Dunphy, who was speaking on 2FM's Game On last night.
There are a lot of guys in England hyping Pogba up. He is okay. He is always on the edge of the game. He's not someone who brings a lot of influence to bear on the game. He made a goal at the weekend but for £90m you are expecting a lot more over the 90 minutes - a lot more intensity, a lot more in terms of how the game shapes up.
I think he's a guy who's probably best playing out wide, like Juventus played him, wideish of a three and making the odd intervention.
He is not a world class player. He's not a make-the-difference player.
Suggested to Dunphy by Hugh Cahill that Pogba is 'a bit French', he disagreed that it was a pejorative term. One area where Dunphy believes the 24-year-old may have some potential is on a night out.
Kante is French, some of the great players we've seen are French.
I think he is very self-indulgent. He doesn't appear to have a care in the world. I'd say he is a smashing lad to go on a night out [with] or to live next door to but does he win matches?
You have to compare him with Griezmann, certainly Silva and De Bruyne, Sterling at Man City this year, he's not in that class - otherwise, he'd be a big loss.
They [Man Utd] should just stick Herrera in there, I think.
