It's the people's game of the future. The working man's game. For a long time, people, particularly in England, thought that was football. The sport for the masses. But we have discovered a sport which has even more potential for capturing the hearts and minds of a mass audience.
In Dubai, the sport of camel racing is as old as the hills. However, the practice (and this is special part) of using robots as jockeys is presumably less old than the hills. Yes, robots for jockeys is right. The robots sit perched on top of the camel with a mechanical whip of some sort as the animals hare towards the finish line.
It's a strange marriage, the insular sport of camel racing and robot jockeys, kind of like if shinty decided to adopt a Hawkeye system.
Back in the old days (pre-2004) they used to get kids to ride the camels around the place. Since human rights concerns have gotten more traction in Dubai, they have changed this and now its diminiutive robots who are perched on top of these animals.
