Andy Lee's fight with Peter Quillin will not be a title fight as his opponent has failed to make the weight. Earlier this evening, Quillin weighed in at 161.4lbs and was given two hours to get down below 160lbs.
He failed, only making 160.8lbs.
Therefore, Andy Lee's world title is no longer on the line tomorrow evening. WBO regulations insist that Andy Lee's title will remain in his possession regardless of what happens tomorrow.
The next time his title will be put in jeopardy will be when he faces Billy Joe Saunders at some stage this year. Apart from these ramifications, the main consequence of the announcement has been the proliferation of 'Kid Chocolate (Quillin's sobriquet) clearly eating too much chocolate' jokes.
Peter Quillin hasn't made weight. Looks like non-title fight for Andy Lee. Big blow for him as fight to be shown on NBC in US.
