John Kavanagh has revealed he thinks Conor McGregor is en route to becoming the greatest fighter in UFC history. The SBG head coach's confidence in his fighter is so high that he also believes The Notorious will win multiple titles in the world's largest MMA promotion. He made the startling claims to Peter Carroll of the Mirror.
It’s hard to put in words why I think he will be remembered as the greatest of all-time.
I think he will definitely be a two-weight world champion, that’s a given.
And I think with a certain set of circumstances he will be the first and only three weight division world champion. That would be at featherweight, lightweight and welterweight.
McGregor squares off against fellow UFC rising star Dustin Poirier at UFC 178 next week. A win against the American will certainly be the biggest scalp of the Dubliner's career and would thrust him into the featherweight title frame. According to Kavanagh, no one on the UFC's roster can cause McGregor any sort of problems.
Everyone in the UFC is an ideal opponent for Conor. They really don’t have any idea what’s coming for them. It doesn’t matter if it’s a smothering wrestling style or a dynamic striking or submission style.
It will make more sense after September 27 what I’m saying, but everybody is an ideal opponent.
