So, the date is set for what is going to be one of the UFC's biggest fights of the year but, for Conor McGregor, that July 11th title showdown with Jose Aldo is just too far away. For McGregor, ideally he would have another fight to tide him over until then but as it's very unlikely the UFC would risk their newest cash cow so instead he plans to get back to his roots.
The Dubliner has told AXS TV that we will look to enter the European Open Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Championship in Rome in April.
That's the one thing I don't like about the date, that's it's so far away. There's the No-Gi Europeans on in Rome in April so I'm going to go and compete in them.
I asked to fight again (in UFC) and they gave me the Dennis (Siver) fight. Now I know that even if a fighter pulls out they're not going to use me to slot in, even though I would like that, because of what's on the line.
