It's unclear when we will reach peak Chris Sutton --- we hope there is still some way to go --- but Sutton's commentary work for BT yesterday during the Dundee-Celtic match felt like a highwater mark, a sublime mixture of the curmudgeonly and the enlightened.
Yesterday we posted footage of Sutton tearing into Stephen Craigan over a debatable penalty call. But Sutton's most inspired moment behind the microphone came in the second half of the match, when the Dundee physio arrived on the field sporting a slightly oversized backpack.
Even by his own high standards, Sutton was incredulous.
Is it really such a strange idea that a physio might require a largish bag to transport his many goods?
"Some drink there...sandwiches maybe? What is all that about?...Just use a bag!
Scottish viewers on BT were understandably perplexed.
Is Sutton seriously having a go at the physio for having a backpack? It's moaning for the sake of it.

Chris Sutton is now a fashion commentator on the side of being a shite ex pro football pundit #backpack #DundeeCeltic

Whatever your thoughts on the merits of Sutton's arguments about backpacks, we are certainly better off because of his opinions.
