Julian Edelman was mic'd up for the duration of the most memorable play of the Super Bowl. Tom Brady's pass was almost intercepted, bobbled up in the air, and Edelman somehow got his hands underneath the ball before it hit the ground.
It was the kind of play which sent off alarm bells in the Falcons players' minds. That sinking feeling when one realises that the Gods are conspiring against you.
After getting his hands underneath the ball and wrenching it free of the clawing hands of the Falcons defenders, Edelman cried "I caught it, I caught it, I caught it."
Edelman briefly debated the play with Falcons cornerback Brian Poole. Even when confronted with video evidence, players will see what they wish to see.
"No way, Look at that. On the ground", Poole said, pointing up at the footage of Edelman catching the ball.
Edelman was mic'd up at the games end when he took a running jump at Tom Brady. The quarterback told everyone that they were still reviewing the incident.
For the next 30 seconds, Edelman plastered back on his game face and told all the pitch invaders to "get the fuck off the field."
Bill Belichick approaches and embraces him. You might not surprised to see that Edelman doesn't tell him to "get the fuck off the field."
