Finding a mug willing to take on the Hull City job will prove quite a challenge. Steve Bruce steered them to promotion last season. But he left before this season started after Hull's owners made clear they were anxious to sell and thus weren't going to be spending any money on players.
A more detailed statement on Phelan's sacking is promised shortly. Hull have only won one game in the Premier League this season.
