Just prior to kick-off in their game against the Lions at Eden Park on Wednesday, the Blues performed a special version of the Haka.
Titled He Toa Takitini (The Strength of Many), it was written in honour of two recently deceased Blues players - Jonah Lomu and Kurtis Haiu.
All Blacks legend Lomu, who passed away in November 2015 aged just 40, started his career at the Blues.
Kurtis Haiu played 53 times for the Blues. He passed away last year, aged 31, after a long battle with cancer.
It was the first time a Haka was performed against the Lions outside of a test game against the All Blacks or against the New Zealand Maori.
The Blues' high performance director Tony Hanks told the New Zealand Herald:
We realised we had something missing when we lost a couple of really important players from here - Kurtis Haiu and Jonah Lomu.
With New Zealand and the way we mourn, you have the haka or a song. So we felt we had something missing and we needed something to represent us.
