The BBC has come on in leaps and bounds in their treatment of Gaelic football since that dark day when a presenter on their kiddies' news programme 'Newsround' introduced viewers to a sport called 'Gaelic soccer'.
Yesterday evening, they previewed the momentous Dublin-Mayo showdown. Judging by the tenor of the slot, the British Broadcasting Corporation are willing on Mayo to banish the curse.
We hasten to add that this is not the BBC's Northern Irish offshoot, which is an old hand at showing Gaelic football matches. No, this segment was brought to us via the command centre in London.
Perhaps wisely, they asked Match of the Day and occasional TV3 commentator, Limerick's Conor McNamara, to lay it all out for them.
His chat with Karin Giannone was largely preoccupied with both the curse on Mayo since '51 and trying to get across how big an event it is in Ireland.
15 years working at The BBC & they *finally* ask me about Gaelic Football!
