Sad GAA news from the Irish Independent today: apparently "up to eight counties" might not have sponsors for their jerseys next season. Down, Sligo, Louth, Roscommon, Galway, Meath and Westmeath are all in jeopardy of having a bare spot in the front of the jerseys next - which is understandable enough given the economy and their colour schemes - but we were shocked to learn that the Carlow jersey has no sponsor at the moment. The Carlow jersey is the greatest design work O'Neill's has ever done. This is a slight that cannot stand. Balls.ie has begun the slow process of enquiring with the Carlow County Board into the price of advertising on the front of the Carlow jersey next season. Even though we estimate it costs about 50 grand, we're serious about this - this is the sexiest advertising space in Ireland since those sexy Celtic Tiger house ads near the airport. We might even raise money on Fundit if we had to.
