Jordi Murphy, the scorer of Ireland's opening try on Saturday, has effectively been ruled out of the Six Nations with a cruciate ligament injury.
The IRFU have estimated he'll be out of action for a period of 6-9 months. The news was disclosed by team manager Mick Kearney today.
Murphy scored Ireland's opening try on Saturday but went down injured shortly before half-time, resulting in a lengthy stoppage.
He spent the second half in crutches on the sideline. He almost dispensed with them in celebration at full-time.
