Balls Media is experiencing a phase of rapid growth, and today we're delighted to announce the most exciting content-related appointment in the company's history. Starting next Monday, Michael McCarthy, producer of Off The Ball on Newstalk, will be taking over as Editor of Balls.ie.
An employee of Newstalk for nine years, McCarthy took over as Producer of Off the Ball in March 2013 and oversaw the programme's renaissance in recent years. As well as an Irish institution, Off the Ball is also the reigning PPI Sports Radio Programme of the Year. McCarthy played a fundamental role in defining the voice of the programme in its current iteration and he will bring that knowledge and passion to the digital realm with Balls starting next week.
"My time with Off the Ball is something I will always cherish but the opportunity to help shape the future for Balls.ie was one I couldn't turn down. The website has become an integral part of the sporting media landscape in Ireland and we hope to expand this beyond its current base. I look forward to working with the team and am excited to get to work," McCarthy said.
It's great day for Balls Media and Mick's appointment will help us massively in our singular goal to make Balls.ie Ireland's best sports website.
All in all, good times.
