Munster A won their second ever British and Irish Cup title after a sensational contest with the Jersey Reds at Irish Independent Park.

Thunderous tries from Skibbereen flanker Gavin Coombes and UL Bohs hooker Kevin O'Byrne kept Munster in contention after a sensational opening 50 or so minutes from the visiting finalists, who themselves had scored 30 tries en route to Cork.

Munster were forced to claw themselves back from an 18-0 first-half deficit, and it was an incredible solo effort from English-born Alex Wootton, however, whom Munster plucked from Northampton in 2014, which stole the show during a pulsating climax to this year's competition.

Fullback Stephen Fitzgerald collected a box-kick from the Jersey scrum-half, and Munster went wide across their own 22. Quick hands from captain Cian Bohane presented the ball to the 22-year-old flier Wootton, who did the rest.

Munster emerged 29-28 victors over the superb Reds, who will doubtless return to the island of Jersey as heroes after a superb B&I campaign. Munster join Leinster as two-time winners of the competition.
