UFC commentator and general mixed martial arts expert Joe Rogan last week claimed that UFC womens bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey could not only hold her own with a male bantamweight in the octagon, but she would beat about 50% of them. Rogan's comments caused quite a stir in the MMA community, and some fighters are not best pleased.
Least pleased was without a doubt Ian McCall, who aside from having the greatest MMA nickname of all-time in "Uncle Creepy", has voiced his opinion on the issue, and it will no doubt be negatively received by fans of Rousey.
In an interview on Monday, McCall was asked how he felt about Joe Rogan's comments, and he did not hold anything back.
They say all these comparisons to her fighting men, even like Joe [Rogan]. I need to have a conversation with Joe about it because she's not beating up a man. I'm sorry, it's not going to happen. A good man will not lose to Ronda Rousey, I could put a judo gi on, [she's] an Olympian. You're not throwing me. It's not going to happen. I will throw you on your head. Pretty simple. And you weigh more than me.
Uncle Creepy then went full sexist stereotype with his parting line:
Ronda's definitely not the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, she's the best woman on the planet. That's cute. Cool. Well, we're doing men things. Different. I get it, you're really good and all but to compare her to
Jon Jones, Jose Aldo, Demetrious Johnson or Cain Velasquez ... come on. Any of the champions. It's a different world. It just frustrates me.
Yeah... We're going to need to see these two fight.
