Despite his recent cocaine controversy, it seems as though nothing can bring a halt to Jon Jones reign as UFC light-heavyweight champion. Daniel Cormier was supposed to push Jones to the limit, but he was dispatched with relative ease, so who is next up for one of the most dominant fighters in UFC history?
Officially, it is #1 contender Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson, after the explosive striker dismantled previously #1 ranked contender Alexander Gustafsson in an extremely impressive display at the end of January, and while Jones vs Johnson is a fight we absolutely cannot wait for, another very interesting fight has been suggested for Jon Jones... Against his little brother.
Chandler Jones is a defensive end for the Superbowl champion New England Patriots, and while he doesn't compete in mixed martial arts, that age old motivator known as sibling rivalry has lead to the ball player claiming that he can take down his older brother, and has even proposed the idea of a fight for charity.
Speaking to TMZ sports the NFL star said the following:
Me and my brother used to fight all the time when we were young and I'm pretty sure I can take him down now. I am way bigger than he is.
Solid reasoning. Although he's not wrong, standing at 6'5" Chandler is about an inch taller than Jon, and weighing in at around 265 pounds on gameday he wouldn't be too easy to take down, but could this actually happen?
It will be fun if we actually did a one-round match for charity, that would be fun. If I win, he would have to donate to the charity of my choice and vice versa.
What this space. Although Jon will have to have his full concentration on Anthony Johnson first.
