Brisbane Lions vice-captain Pearce Hanley has been ruled out of action for 12 weeks, hampering his pre-season efforts and ensuring he misses the first month of the season.
As reported by his club, Hanley will undergo surgery to clean up bone and cartilage in his hip. The player was at risk of long-term damage should the club have not acted now, despite Hanley being able to play with the injury.
