UFC 187 takes place on May 23rd and the card is absolutely stacked.
The main event will see Jon Jones make his ninth light heavyweight title defence, this time it will be against number one contender Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson. Rumble beat Alexander Gustafsson in Stockholm just last month in what was pretty much a title elimination bout. Jones was also in action in January, defeating Daniel Cormier by unanimous decision.
The co main event is another championship fight with middleweight title holder Chris Weidman defending his belt against Vitor Belfort. It will be Weidman's third title defence and Belfort's first fight in 18 months. The two were initially scheduled to fight at UFC 184 on February 28th but the champion was forced to renege due to an injury.
Also slated is a lightweight bout between the fighters ranked two and three in the division - Khabib Nurmagomedov and Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone. It will be Cowboy's third fight of the year. He defeated both Myles Jury and Benson Henderson last month. While for Nurmagomedov, his last fight came in April of 2014. His most recent appearance in the Octagon was a unanimous decision win against Rafael dos Anjos, the man who has a title shot against Anthony Pettis next month.
It really is a savage card.
The announcement comes on the back on a major addition to UFC 189, where Conor McGregor fights Jose Aldo. The co main event will also be a title fight with Robbie Lawler taking on Rory MacDonald.
