Kris Meeke and Paul Nagle have become the first ever Irish crew win a round of the World Rally Championship by claiming victory in Argentina. Driver Meeke is from Dungannon while co-driver Nagle hails from Kerry.
The Citroen pair dominated the round and finished 18.1 seconds ahead of teammate Mads Ostberg.
The Northern Irish man dedicated the win to the late Colin McRae. He told WRC.com:
The one guy who did most for me isn’t here to see this. This is for Colin. He helped my career out at the very beginning. He supported me financially through to the world championship. Without his support I wouldn’t be here.
Victory leaves Meeke fifth in the driver standings on 35 points after four rounds.
