She's one of the most dominant sportspeople in the world. Unbeaten in eleven bouts, and famed for her utter dismantling of elbows in quick succession, there are fantasy rumours about whether she'd have a Billie Jean King moment and take on some of the men of UFC, given the lack of female competitors at her standard.
Rousey herself though isn't a fan of the idea. Speaking to The Daily Beast, Rousey poured cold water over the idea of the fantasy bout:
I don’t think it’s a great idea to have a man hitting a woman on television. I’ll never say that I’ll lose, but you could have a girl getting totally beat up on TV by a guy — which is a bad image to put across. With all the football stuff that’s been happening, not a good idea. It’s fun to theorize about and talk about, but it’s something that’s much better in theory than fact.
She's got a point.
Rousey had earlier come out against domestic violence in the wake of the Ray Rice incident that rocked the NFL last September.
Rousey is a firm supporter of equality among the sexes, but says that a fight isn't the way to prove that.
Me fighting a man will change the perception of a women being an inferior creature? Is that what you're saying? I really don't think that's necessary.
