Benson Henderson stepped in at short notice to save last night's UFC card in Broomfield, Colorado. The former UFC lightweight champion also stepped up in weight class for the bout, making his debut at welterweight against Brandon Thatch.
Thatch had a five inch height advantage on Henderson and for the first two rounds, it felt like he deserved the favourite's tag for the fight.
In the third round, the momentum changed though as Henderson's superior ground game began to show.
With just a minute left in the fourth, Herb Dean called an end to the fight when Thatch tapped out due to rear naked choke.
In the post fight interview, the victor was asked if he had a future at welterweight. He answered by saying that he'd heard Rory McDonald was looking for a fight at the moment.
That'd be a cracking fight.
